After asking everyone where Mr. Luffee’s shop was, she followed the directions and found the shop.
When she opened the door to Mr. Luffee’s shop, she only saw his shoes over the desk. In a flash, a monster
popped up from behind the desk. Kare knew Mr. Luffee was eaten by the monster. Suddenly, Mr. Luffee’s
phone rang. The ringing noise made the monster scared. It ran to a small lab in the shop with Mr. Luffee’s shoes

Kare answered the phone and a booming voice shouted. “Where is Kare?! She must be with you because I
have tried calling everyone else and she is nowhere to be found. I suddenly remembered that I had not called
you yet. SO WHERE IS SHE?”
It’s me, mom,” said Kare. “COME HOME…RIGHT NOW!” Her mom screamed. “No, Mr. Luffee is in big
trouble.” Kare said. Before her mom could answer, Kare hung up. She then ran to the lab where the monster was
hiding. When she opened the door, a tongue tasted her. She tore out of the store and bumped into a glass object
shaped like a sphere.
Then, Mr. Luffee’s face appeared on the surface of the sphere. She reached her hand toward Mr. Luffee and
was pulled into the glass sphere. She ended in the monster’s stomach! Without saying a word she looked around
and saw Mr. Luffee. She pulled him and climbed out of the stomach and into the mouth. Exhausted, she rested
for a moment in the mouth.
As she was resting, Kare saw that the monster had lost a tooth. She told Mr. Luffee to leave through the
missing tooth. Mr. Luffee and Kare crawl outside and ran away. Mr. Luffee walked her home.
When Kare was at her front door, Mr. Luffee gave her the ruby necklace for saving him. Kare opened the
door her mom ran toward her hugged her tightly. She gave her mom the necklace.
I am very proud of you, Kare!” her mother exclaimed. From then on, Kare looked for people who needed
